Than there were days I would stay at uncle Bob, play on th organ, playing on the playground, and listening to Scoot play is guitar on the front porch I remember camping trip with my poppa, the fishing the hikes, and the stories. | Trip down memory lane When I was eight years old I thought I would impress my cousins from Toledo and I am sure they remember The day I was showing them how I could drive Dads pickup truck. I loaded an unknown number of cousins in the truck and hit the starter but forgot to push the clutch in and we hit the garage about 5 mph and of coarse they were impressed LOL! Dad was not and I got my butt warmed it was a great ride but very short. I think it was Denny,Cookie, and Sandy as passenger?? Bill Boden |

ROLLER SKATES One day a few days before Christmas when I was about 11 years old ,my dad played a joke on me.....He kept telling me that my gift was about 3 feet long and 6 or 7 inches wide.....I thought "what am I going to do with a pr of ski's" and I didn't know how to ski so I wondered why he would give me ski's for Christmas.....and he knew I'd been wanting roller skates,,,,,because I went to the roller rink 3 or 4 nights a week....,..Well as it turned out it was a pair of rink roller skates....I was so happy cause now I wouldn't have to rent them anymore......It was so much fun going to the roller rink but now I wanted to go more often.....In the summer I went every night except Mondays and thats because they weren't open on Monday......Darn! I wore those skates till I was 25 years old and really got alot of use out of them.........Those days are gone forever but they are proud and happy memories........... Memories of childhood happenings are precious and thats just one of mine.......... By Marie Boden |
| Down memory lane Painted Memories by Christina Prater One moment from the sixties, I knew this girl who once loved turtles. She and her brother loved them and they each had a little turtle dish. In the middle of the dish there was a little palm tree and a island so the turtle could climb up on to get out of the water. This brother and sister would play hours with there turtles, having turtle races, watching and gazing at them. They were amazed at them. The long necks, the stripes on the neck and the patterns the shells made. They enjoyed watching them swim around the bowl and in the sun it was like watching and dreaming of being at the beach. The kids pretended the turtles were at an ocean. So now they had to add some sand and watch them on a real beach in there eyes. One day the children went to get their turtles and their shell's were becoming soft. Something was wrong with their shells, but they seemed just fine, they acted the same and the interest never ran out. The brother and sister looked everywhere for something that would make their shell strong again but we couldn’t find what they needed. The brother and sister worried that their turtles would die, but turtles were everywhere, they could always buy new ones if they were sick, but it just wouldn’t be the same. So one weekend when it seemed the turtle's shells were getting really soft the children's Grandma and Grandpa Taylor came for a visit from Norwalk. They brought us exactly what we needed for our turtles, Mom (Marie Boden) told them about our turtles. They brought new turtles and the medicine needed to keep their shells hard. Still don’t know what the medicine was, but it was in the shape of a turtle and it sat in the water and slowly dissolved and that keep the turtles shells hard and healthy. We ( Scott and me) sure did love those turtles as long as we had them.. Remember this Scott? The house was filled with so much excitement when our Grandparents came for a visit. Thinking about them fills my heart up with so much! Iam hoping that this will set off other memories about grandparents. Oh yea, the kids lived happily ever after. Christina Prater |
